Our university(SKKU) trains AI-Smart Factory experts
to lead the post-Corona era with LG Electronics
- For six weeks(May 6th ~ June 15th), about 20 employees of LG Electronics were trained on the ‘Manufacturing AI Leader Course’
- Studying core theories of artificial intelligence and big data, and performing tasks using on-the-job data
Our university conducted 'Manufacturing AI Leader Course' for about 20 employees of LG Electronics for six weeks, and held a completion ceremony at the Natural Sciences Campus of SKKU on June 15th (Mon).
This program is a convergence AI course that is conducted by professors of Software department and Systems Management Engineering department of SKKU. It is designed to learn core technologies of artificial intelligence and the theory of Smart Factory, which is a representative AI technology application field, and apply them to manufacturing sites.
Participants in the training set the foundation for learning AI such as Python, probability and statistics through online pre-learning for a month in April. And for three weeks from early May, they went through machine learning, deep learning, and smart factory theory learning process. Based on this, they carried out a three-week project to solve the issues of manufacturing sites through AI. In the future, excellent projects will be selected and promoted as industry-academic cooperation projects between SKKU and LG Electronics.
Participants who complete this course will be awarded the Micro Degree, ‘Kingo Degree-AI’. Kingo Degree is awarded in the form of a digital learning badge demonstrating the job expertise in the ‘AI-Smart Factory’ field of the graduates who completed theoretical and practical training and successfully carried out the capstone project.
Shin Dongryeol, president of SKKU, said "Kingo Degree-AI, which combines excellent faculty and curriculums, will allow us to take a leap forward as an AI-smart factory expert."
Hong Soonkook, head of LG Electronics' Production Engineering Research Institute, said "In an environment where it is hard to predict, rapid digital transformation in manufacturing field is essential. We will continue to cultivate talented personnel to lead manufacturing innovation."
