2017 University College Peer Leader Camp was held successfully
2017 SKKU University College Peer Leader Camp was held at Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do Kyowon Vision Center from March 18th to 19th by University College(Dean: Prof. Yoo Hong Jun).
97 members, including freshman and sophomore Peer Leaders(PLs, Leaders of University College Freshmen's Learning Communities) and Sungkyun Mentors of both campuses, participated in the Camp and actively interacted with each other.
Starting with greetings and brief introduction, the Camp was consisted of programs such as sharing experiences of sophomore PLs, special lecture for improvement of communication by Prof. Kim Jang Hyun of Interaction-Science School, task execution of each PL group and discussion between Sungkyun Mentors and students.
"There were gatherings of LC, Preliminary major group and club every evening and weekend, so I was so exhausted and hesitated a lot to come to the Camp. But I made up my mind to participate in it, as this is a good opportunity to get along with other PLs of both campuses. It doesn't feel awkward as I thought it would be, and in fact, we got closer to each other already. I would like to thank members and staffs of University College for their support," said Choi Yujin(H20 Peer Leader) and Kim Hyosub(H24 Peer Leader).
Cho Wonkyeong(English Language and Literature), Myeong Jihan(Economics), Kim Minjeong(Engineering) and Kang Minjae(Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering) participated in the Camp as advisers, giving encouragement to freshman PLs. And they also advised them not to be too stressed out, as freshman PLs are also new to university.
Jeon Jonghee, Sungkyun Mentor of Humanities and Social Science Campus said, "I'm thankful to Peer Leaders, as they came to the Camp although they are busy with their first month of the first semester in university. I also felt proud of them as they clean up the site without being told to. It will be not only burdensome but worthwhile and rewarding to support those students this year."
University College Peer Leader Camp is one of the programs of ACE Project, aiming for improving leadership of University College freshmen, building comradeship and the spirit of cooperation between students and activating interactions among PLs of different University College freshmen and campuses.
