Confucianism Humanity Education Center has successfully
completed character development program
Confucianism Humanity Education Center (Director: Prof. Lee Cheon Sung) recently held an essay contest for all students taking The Analects of Confucius class in humanity field.
Due to COVID-19, it was held as an essay contest in 2021 spring semester, and 1,612 students, the largest number ever, participated. Students considered how to look at the problem of life based on ‘Benevolence (인, 仁)’ and sought solutions.
After two rounds of screening, the grand prize was given to one student, the second prize was given to two students, and the third prize was given to seven students. Jang Jae Sung (Electronic and Electrical Engineering) won the grand prize with an essay titled ‘What we have to do to leave a good mark’. Kim Hee Jin (Social Welfare) and Bae Ye Rin (Medicine) won the second prize, and the third prize was given to seven students including Choi Ki Hwan (Advanced Materials Science and Engineering).
This program is a representative character development program of Confucianism Humanity Education Center, and it is a large-scale event with more than 1,200 students participating each semester. This semester, based on the major theme of ‘Benevolence (인, 仁): human dignity and respect for life’, students had time to think together about ways for individuals and society to cherish the value of ‘people’ and ‘life’ by combining their own experiences, thoughts, and lessons from classics like <The Analects of Confucius>.
This program helps students to become future leaders by cultivating identity and personality as SKKU people. You can check former winners on the website of Confucianism Humanity Education Center (https://chec.skku.edu).
